Second Whole Foods coming to Sarasota

The existing Whole Foods store in Sarasota at 1451 1st Street

A retail property developer landed the second Whole Foods Market in Sarasota as its anchor tenant.

The Austin, Texas-based supermarket company will occupy a newly built store in a Sarasota retail plaza owned by Georgia-based developer S.J. Collins Enterprises.

Whole Foods set Jan. 31 as the opening date for its anchor space at Union Station, a new 53,746-square-foot retail plaza that is 100 percent leased.

Along with the new Whole Foods anchor store, S.J. Collins has recruited a nail salon and a pet hospital that soon will open at the newly built plaza, at the corner of Honore Avenue and University Parkway in Sarasota.

Existing tenants include a dental office, a dry cleaner, a restaurant, a Wawa convenience store, and one of the largest Tesla Supercharger stations in Florida.

According to its website, Whole Foods has 26 stores in Florida, including 15 concentrated in Miami-Dade (six locations), Broward (five) and Palm Beach County (four). [YourObserver.com]Mike Seemuth
